Nice...it's a bit freaky too...(-:

Did you really get 300 people to participate?

How many were glocals?

I was totes gutted when I saw this and realised I couldn't go. I *love* freezes but have never been to one. Scissors paper stone is genius. As is the suitcase with the stuff falling out. Polaroid camera: genius. And it true British style I have to point out that it looks like the weather turned out nice for the event.

What it was that I had to do instead was so important that I've just spent 10 minutes trying, and failing, to remember what it was. That important.

Yeah, freezes. Gutted.

When's there gonna be one in Geneva?
Hayes: When's there gonna be one in Geneva?
Hayes: tell you what. If you're willing to pull together the freeze (which means finding a location, coordinating the people who show up, and posting the ad on glocals), we'll include it on the weekly glocals newsletter going to all 16,000 GVA members. Come on mate, make it happen...

Here's an idea. We can set a world record and have the biggest freeze ever - in Geneva. If we can convince about 1000 glocals.com members to come it can happen. It should definitely be at the Lake Parade this year. Imagine the impact and the coverage!

I think it can be done....how do you know it would be a world record?

Ouch.

Yeah, that's kind of tempting. It would be good to hear if marcomarco has any more information about the Lausanne event. I expect there to be a reason why it's not a good idea but I can't see it.

Glocals freeze? -- Freeze -- Freeze -- Drinks

It doesn't sound like a terrible idea, does it. Part of me does have the desire to see a frozen bag-snatch in a shockingly busy pedestrianised bit of town.

It would have to wait a while, so it doesn't just look like we were copying the Lausanne one. Which we would be. It would need a different twist. If a week or so of keeping the ear close to the ground and low-level research don't yield a good reason why not, I'll think really hard about it.

Hayes:

Honestly, I don't see why it would be a bad idea...but then again, I didn't see anything bad about launching the titanic, and look where that went.

We actually did some Geneva flash mobs 2 years ago, when glocals had 200 members, and it went down well. It was led by member ElGuiri (who recently moved to Dubai), and it was based on praying to a banana, and on dressing up as ducks (that's how ElGuiri got his 'The Duck' nick name). If we got 30 people out when we were 200, there's a good chance we could get 1000 people out now that we're 17,000...

We just need a 'freeze leader', who is even more cool (ie, frozen) than the rest of us!

Ooh, two posts in the time it took me to write one.

Nir; Catalin: 1000 wouldn't cut it. 3000 people froze in the Paris Trocadero just last week. That's the biggest one I found so far. Ambitious.

Titanic? Everyone knew it would go down -- it was a conspiracy by the Screen (Film?) Actor's Guild to get rid of DiCaprio. Unfortunately for all, he caught wind of this, sent a double, and is still infiltrating movies to this day.

No. It's certainly not a bad idea. It's great. All I'm saying is that we should perhaps think a little more before organising a freeze. I mean, we're only talking about it cos there was one in Lausanne 3 days ago. Of course, it's not like they came up with the idea... just... give it a few days. I'm thinking we need to give it some twist. Niche freeze.

Damn French! They had to ruin everything :p

Well this only means we have to try harder and get more members to come. Nir, any idea how many members we haved actually living in Geneva? Of course those from Lausanne could come but probably more difficult to get  them here.

Hi Nir,

Here it is! A freeze flash mob is being planned for Saturday 12th of April in Geneva :)

I talked to the guy who is organizing it and I've put an ad under member activities!

Will we see you there?

Aurélie (Halfmoonette :P)
