I ain’t what I used to be.

Here's more words of wisdom, the simple version:

If it's full - empty it.
If it's empty - fill it.
If it itches - scratch it.

I have no clue of the hidden meaning of those words, but I heard a guy say it once as an answer to 'what did I learn in my life', and it amused me a great deal.

And here's another 'half full / half empty' amusing thing, this time with a corporate twist:

this is a real campaign and customers siad the new version tasted nicer and sales went up.

so whether the glass is half full or half empty is different!!!![/quote]

Archie - it's hilarious, but no way it's a real campaign...:) I'm sure it's some spoof of marketing techniques.

Actually it is a real award winning campaign, just playing on the fact that it hasn't changed since 1955 .. originating in the UK

I would hope so .. I find alot of the UK TV ad campaigns are tongue in cheek. The funny ads are usually more memorable. Don't forget the two movie directors Tony Scott (Top Gun ..etc) and Ridley Scott (Aliens.. ) began as TV ad directors so quite often the ads are better than the tv programmes themselves.

here's something that breathes out an uncanny truth to it:

in life, we take the test, then learn the lesson

I want to live my next life backwards.

You start out dead and get that out of the way.

Then you wake up in an old age home feeling better every day.

You get kicked out for being too healthy; go collect your pension, then when you start to work you get a gold watch on your first day.

You work 40 years until you’re young enough to enjoy your retirement.

You drink lots of alcohol, you party, you’re generally pretty promiscuous, and you get ready for High School.

You then go to Primary School, you become a kid, you play, you have no responsibilities.

You become a baby, and then.....you spend the last 9 months of your life floating peacefully in luxury, in spa-like conditions; central heating, room service on tap, larger quarters every day....

and then......

you finish off life as an orgasm.

Ah Mr Free! The Man with the Plan!

I LIKE your plan by the way.

Reminds me of "The Curious Case of Mr Benjamin Button" , by F. Scott Fitzgerald. He never gets to the orgasm though....

The answer to this is, you see sometimes things just don't work out the way you plan, it is just a fact so just be happy that you will alway have an extra winnie.

Tony, Can I quote your words of winnie wisdom? Of course I'll always give the source.

Between you and Free, there could be an interesting philosophy club. Worth investigating the idea.

I wish I could take complete credit for that, but I heard something like that somewhere.

I am sorry that I did not say that in my reply.  I should have said I heard something like this somewhere. You see, I doubt I could add much orginal thinking to a philo club.  But I do like the idea of living life from last to first.  (Free 08) :)

this is my favorite!

"There are times when you are overwhelmed by the sensation that nothing is going right for you. But it is important to understand that there is no law that obliges you to be relentlessly ground down by fate. Only those who forget that the spirit lives in them are subject to unrelenting fate. Whatever your trials, remind yourself that you are a spirit and are capable of changing your destiny. Of course, you will not be able to change very much to begin with – perhaps your path will veer by only one hundredth of a degree – but if you continue to work in the same direction, you will end by putting a whole solar system between you and fate. What is important is to tap the power of the spirit that is within you." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Omraam_Mikha%C3%ABl_A%C
