Food hygiene certificate for France - does such a thing exist?

I'm looking to cook from my home kitchen for friends initally and then local markets. Is anyone aware of whether France has requirements for food hygiene certificates?

Thanks in advance.

If you are refering to transportation, display and/or storage regulations of food products & processed meals, to sell on local markets, there are such food hygiene certificate (in french CERTIFICAT DE CONFORMITE SANITAIRE) which is applied and requested at border post and on site by relevant authorities. Depending on nature of the food preparation various rules and restrictions may apply whether you sell canned food, freshly cooked, refrigerated... and recently some rules have been enforced for street food vending. Accordingly, you should check with official veterinarian services and also "Direction générale de la concurrence, de la consommation et de la répression des fraudes (DGCCRF)" in 01Bourg-en-Bresse) or 74(Annecy) office. A freight forwarder would be a person to contact for detailed infos.

In any case check with your insurance policy for your liabilities and be careful as to animal origin when you decide to cook meat . Wink
