Hi there!
The Bohemian Waxwing (Jaseur Boréal in french - Bombycilla garrulus in binominal nomenclature) is back in Switzerland. Their german name, "Pestvogel", is due to the terrible times their presence is supposed to omen (as people only saw these little guys during rude winters).
They have been spotted in Uznach (SG) and Auvernier (NE). These bird are used to septentrional climates and countries, and it is rare to have them going south during winter. According to specialists, they can't find enough food because of the cold streak that strikes Europe these weeks.
Let's hope they reach Geneva, they really are nice looking fellows...
Cheers!
Syd.

Yup, they sure look nice!
The thing is that you have to get quite close to them to see their bright colours.
I had the chance to have a few of them fly by my garden when they came last time to Switzerland, a few years ago.
:)
