Post 43
Ok folks - the competition is now closed - thanks for the great posts.
I wish we had more tickets to give away, but we only have 14 so we had to choose 7 winners, and they are:
Gracie, Tiberg, Kate Rochet, Nir, Poster, Helen Sarah and Genevorin
I'm sending each of the winners a private message with the details of how to pick up your tickets.
Thanks again to everyone who participated and to our friends at GAOS.

Below are the winning posts:
Gracie
am a BIG fan of the Sound of Music. This is the movie of my life. When we were kids, my brother and I used to watch it over and over again so at some point in time it was obvious that, living in Europe, I'd make my way up to Salzburg, to visit the locations of the movie!!!
So I did it last year! But first, I had to introduce my boyfriend to the beauty of the movie!!! (now you're thinking: poor guy, I know). And he not only saw the movie, but actually made my dream come true by booking us a night the house where the Van Trapp family -the real one- used to live!!!
We spent just over 14hs in Salzburg, but we managed to take the "Sound of Music" tour. It was 4 girls, the guide (also a woman) and my boyfriend. And guess what? Whenever the guide asked questions related to the movie, guess who would answer them promptly? Mr. Super Right!!!!!
As you can see, not only our trip was pure magic, but also proved to me that he was the best companion ever! :)
Can you give me the tickets, pls? Pls? :)
My boyfriend will go with me!
I am adding our pic in front of the Pavillion -fans will recognize it!
Tiberg
Me and my fiancée met during a Sound of Music show in Hofors, a small Swedish town in the middle of nowhere.
I was von Trapp's butler Franz and made a complete fool out of myself when attempting to play the clarinett on stage along with the lead actress singing "My favorite things". Normally, Franz is a very small role (and it should have stayed that way). However, in a moment of weekness and profound stupidity I had told the director that I cold play the clarinett quite well (which I couldn't). He took my stupid word for it and made me play along this song on stage. I thought I could pull it off but started screwing up already on the opening note. I got even more nervous and my playing worsened accordingly to the point were the whole audience started laughing. I think the lead actress must have done some horribly funny faces.
Once the play finished I promised myself never to play the clarintt ever again, but 10 min into the "back-stage party" a gorgeus girl walked up to me and started laughing. It turned out she played the clarinett really well and she offered me lessons. I accepted... Now we play clarinett duetts together and we're getting married in August!!
We'd love to go to Sound of Music together on Friday. It brings up so many wonderful memories so please consider us for the tickets!
Kate Rochet
When I was in my late teens, I danced with a ballet company and we put on a season of The Sound of Music where I played Maria. Naturally I had numerous costume changes and there is one scene where she leaves the family and goes back to the convent (after the Baroness makes her realise she was in love with the Captain) so of course I had to change back into my postulant outfit which was like a shorter nun's habit just as in the movie. Anyway I had this big solo scene where I was in the chapel trying to get my head around becoming a nun and being in love but what I didn't realise (and what nobody told me before I went back on stage) is that the back of my dress was caught in the waistband of my stockings and the "trainee nun" was showing off a hot pink thong to the entire audience for the entire two minutes until mother superior walked onto the stage and sorted me out. At this point I turned the same colour as my underwear.
Anyway, despite that, big fan. Wanted to do the Sound of Music Tour when I was last in Austria but didn't have enough time to do it properly and my stalking of Julie Andrews paid off this winter when I saw her in the local Coop in Gstaad. It took all my willpower to not go up to her and sing "How do you solve a problem like Maria?"
Hope that is humiliating/funny enough to warrant tickets.
Nir
I should win those tickets because I wrote a special Poem for it, starting with the first letters of the play's name.
There once was a boy,
His name was Nir,
Every play he found very dear.
Some plays he liked,
Other plays he liked even more,
Undoubtedly he got plays at every store.
Nir was hooked on plays of all sorts,
Dont matter even if the heros had warts.
Oded siteadmin did a competition one day,
For free tickets to Nir's favourite play.
Many people tried to get the tickets,
Using all sorts of high tech attractions like YouTube videos.
Sadly for them,
It's clear that a good old poem is better then video.
C you all the play!

My family name is "Hill". My pet hampsters, Hammy Hill and Spammy Hill, recently passed away. I had heard of this great musician who could bring them back to life singing one of the classics " . . . . the Hill's are alive, with the Sound of Music . . .. ".
Helen Sarah
Ok, so i really really really need cheering up!
I moved to Geneva just over a month ago, and had had plane and train tickets (costing over £250) to take me back home to York in ENgland to see my best friend get married, and also to see my lovely boyfriend who is still living back in the UK.
Only a few hours before i supposed to fly out for the best weekend, the highlight of the year, to see my beautiful friend in her gorgeous dress, tie the knott in front of friends and family i get told about a random valcanoe erupting in Iceland meaning that i am unable to see my loved ones :(
This has made me incredibly homesick and as silly as it sounds seeing the sound of music would bring a little bit of home to Geneva for me :s
As embarrassing as this is to admit i Auditioned for Andrew Lloyd Webbers "how to solve a problem like maria" a few years back (and got pretty far in the competition).
It is a favorite memory of mine from my teenage years (ok i'm only 22) and it would be great to relive part of this and have a little taste of home at a time when i am feeling very home sick and very sorry for myself...
Pick me and i will smile for you :) xx

There are some movies that forever get etched into your being, they somehow end up shaping you by influencing you. I had two movies like that... The Sound of Music and You've Got Mail. I've seen The Sound of Music more times than I can remember. Ever since I first saw that movie as a kid, I've been hooked to it. Loved everything about it, the songs, the dances (specifically the Austrian Folk dance, the Laender), the dresses, the scenery, Captain Von Trapp and Maria. In fact my love for wedding gowns stemmed from watching Maria on her wedding day with that long flowing trail... made a vow to wear one on my wedding too. I was even fascinated with Liesl (Charmian Carr) the eldest daughter in her pink ruffled dress singing I am 16, she looked so beautiful and grown up... I remember thinking 16 is so far away and wanting to grow up soon to be 16 like her. Even now when life tends to get a little bit rough, just singing 'I have confidence in me' or 'These are a few of my Favorite things' or just about any song in the movie will somehow make things better. That movie still holds me captive, no other movie compares to it.
I copied the above paragraph from my sister's blog, she has been crazy bout this movie ever since I can remember. She is 28 years old now and I know she will be thrilled if I could surprise her with the tickets. I can almost imagine the look on her face... :o)
