agreed, but the question is, how long are we going to be able to get real stuff??? and we're lucky in Europe: our food is labelled. in the States, as GMOs are considered to be equivalent to real food, it doesn't say anywhere that it's GMO and thus people have no choice...

According to the Washington, D.C.-based public interest organization, Center for Science in the Public Interest, Canadian and US residents can and do avoid eating food produced from GMO crops:
"If one wants to avoid GE crops, the best way to do that is to buy "organic." If a product is certified as "organic" under federal standards, then the crops used in that product cannot be genetically engineered. Thus, products produced from organic crops will contain either no genetically engineered ingredients or only inadvertent trace amounts of genetically engineered ingredients."
The organic foods industry in North America is growing at a stupendous rate as a result of public concern over GMO "food." Anyone who wants to more on these issues in the US can consult the following websites: www.centerforfoodsafety.org and www.ota.org (The Organic Trade Association).

The gist of it is that some people who led the fight against globalisation (and as a side objective, the fight against GMO), like Jose Bove, are now embracing it, when they see the money in it.
Hate to be cynical on this, but it just begs for a cynic reaction...this guy (Bove) said globalisation will be the end of this earth, and now - when he smells the bucks - he sings a different tune.
Not saying globalisation (and oh yea, GMO) are good or bad - just commenting on human nature here...:)

"Stop force-feeding untested and unlabeled genetically engineered foods on consumers.
Stop using billions of dollars of US taypayers' money to subsidize genetically engineered crops - cotton, soybeans, corn, and canola.
Stop intimidating small family farmers."
One can sign the petition at http://www.organicconsumers.org/monlink.cfm

i just saw Jose Bove on television a couple of days back, and i can assure you he was still fighting strong! he did say he had nothing against the concept of using genetic engineering for health purposes, but was still strongly against using it for making food and general consumption...
