Geneva-Eaux Vives, drugs and children

Dear All,

I'm moving to Geneva in Sept with the rest of the family following end of Oct. I've found a great apartment in the Eaux Vives neighborhood right next to the Parc de la Grange. Surfing the net it seems that there seems to be a problem with dealers and drg addicts in the neighborhood.

Furthermore wanting to test the local eductaion system we're putting our eldest son (5y) in a school not too far from the apartment (Ecole des Vollandes) but it seems that the school is located in a neighborhoo where the druggies hang out!

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Hello Argg:

Access to Geneva schools is safe and there are police officers patrolling around schools wearing urban clothes so not every one would notice them. Ecole des Vollandes is also far from the lake strip in Eaux Vives where the drg addicts are known to gather...Every single parent is aware there might be a potential risk but there has been no incident ever reported. Your child will make it home safely with other children and parent escort as you will note very soon . No worry and the JUST in CASE plan is on...As Tinkie quoted, beware of Jardin Anglais and suggest not to let your child unattended thus avoiding to meet with undesired people.
