Geneva Lunch: Six Casesof Swine Flue Confirmed at CDL Summer School

Versoix, Switzerland (GenevaLunch) - Six cases of swine flu have been confirmed among children attending the College du Léman summer school at Versoix, near Geneva, reports Romandie news. They will spend the next seven days in isolation in a nearby villa. Four other cases are under  investigation.

According to news agency ATS, the parents of some participants have withdrawn their children, saying they had not been informed of the situation, but the school says it informed parents of the situation by email 8 July, and that it has been in touch with the WHO (World Health Organization) and the cantonal medical officer.

Switzerland has over 100 confirmed cases of A/H1N1 swine flu, most of them in the Geneva area, according to the Swiss federal office of public health (FOPH). Swiss authorities have signed a contract with GlaxoSmithKline to provide antivirus doses, and is close to agreement with Novartis to buy more.

Hi. I'll remove the posts - the intention was certainly not to embarrass you, which is why I said thanks - and I'll ask Nir to post a notice about media stuff since a lot of people are unaware of this - unfortunately, I can't send you a message, so this was the only way to reach you. Glad you replied quickly.

I think a lot of people aren't yet aware that GenevaLunch is a community newspaper, with several experienced reporters who all work on a voluntary basis while we build a good financial base in order to turn it into a non-profit venture. We want to make sure we're still here in a few years. The reason for needing permission is that we need the traffic to come to our site, in order to show sponsors and advertisers that we are both a reliable and a widely read source of news. Our growth has been very, very strong, but we're still young and need that help from readers - you guys!

Sorry I sounded more than a little peeved, Ellen! :pinch:

I actually like your website quite a lot and was surreptitiously trying to encourage people to read it...IMHO there aren't enough english newsources with local information/content around and I believe GenevaLunch is one of the best.  It is really important for parents to be made aware of this kind of information, so I thought Glocals readers would really appreciate it!

I can also fully appreciate how much time and effort it takes to keep your site going...so  I hope more people in the area get to know it and read it regularly...:w00t:

I wish Glocals' website had some sort of link to your site, Swisster, and WRS....with appropriate links and permission, of course!:hehe:

Hi there, nice to know about you.... About a year ago I wrote you from Basle about cooperating. I think I even sent you a couple of magazines (business guide). Did you get them? I never received any acknowledgement.

Translator, thanks for the kind words and encouragement - we work hard to supplying well researched, good quality news, so it's nice to hear that recognized. Tallyrand, write to me at [email protected] please so I can see if the system finds your earlier mail - I can't find any trace of it and I'm puzzled when you say you sent some magazines. We're usually pretty good about answering mail, so I'm not sure what went wrong here. Thanks!
