I am hopefully going to get an interview in Zurich, I am currently living in Geneva and I would be interested in some tips about the city.
LANGUAGE: can I survive only with english or other languages? I am a non-german-speaker which means it would take some time to pick up the language (see SOCIAL LIFE)
LIFE COST: don't know if there could be a more expensive city than Geneva, anyway it worths asking
SOCIAL LIFE: very basic need for me, Geneva is definitely ok as is super international and I am concerned about Zurich as (they say) it's more a "German" place and people there are not renowned for there openness...
Thank you for your time!:)

You can spend your whole life in ZH in not speak a word of German.
Most people will understand you. If you speak English.
Seeing that you are Italian, you can also get away with Italian on a lot of occassions.
Meeting and getting to know Swiss people really depends on your personality I guess.
It's probably a good idea to join a local sports-club.
I'm not sure if a foreigner can actually join the shooting-club, but if one can, this is probably the best bet to actually meet Swiss people.
;-)
Zurich may also appear more "German" because well over 50000 of us live in the Kanton, myself included ;-) But Italians are the 2nd largest group.
Never been to Geneva, so I can't compare the CoL.
According to various rankings, though, Geneva tops Zurich in this respect, while Zurich offers the highest "quality of live" among all cities worldwide.
BTW: see map.homegate.ch for an overview of the few flats and housings left for rent for obviously exorbitant prices.
