Getting married in France

Hello,

My partner and I are getting married in 2011 (he's French and I'm English) and we are looking for possible chalet-hotels for a wedding reception and where guests can stay. Does anybody know whether French hotels can have marriage licenses (where you can also marry on the premises) or in all cases are we obliged to first get married in the mairie of the village we live in? I can't seem to find much information about it!

Thanks for any advice!

Hi Clara

Congratulations!

Well, I got married in France in 2001, both non French, and I had to discover that you have to be resident in a place (minimum 3 months?  not sure) before you can get married there..

This may have changed by now, or may be different if your fiance is French, but look into that..

Good luck!

Congratulations Clara!

I got married last August in Chateau de Canisy ( www.canisy.com ) and i highly recommend this place! The grounds are absolutely spectacular, the rooms are exceptional and the staff is extremely helpful and attentive. I lived in the US at the time, so i had to rely on their guest services personnel (Sandrine Pien) to arrange everything for me. She's done an absolutely amazing job! Please feel free to write me a message if you would like to find out more. Alternatively, you can speak with Sandrine.
