yes
But you must stay in Switzerland and I think you are restricted to working in Geneva Canton for a certain period

Paul...
A "B" EU/EUFT is almost the same as a C permit, and you have the right to free movement around Switzerland, both for residency and work...
So if Laura wishes to move to Zurich and look for a job there, she has full mobility rights. Equally is she wishes to move to Vaud to live.. no probs... the one thing she cant do, is go live in France, then she would loose the B permit, since unlike the C permit is has no "grace period away from Suisse option."
I had the same when I was in Zurich, moved to Geneva for work, strangely it was a month or two before my 5 yrs was up, and on renewal the Vaudois authorities at the time gave me a C permit.... (admittedly I had employment).
The issue with the B is... she will need to be married to a permit holder or working to have the permit renewed (or transferred to a C) in 5 yrs.

Ok, thanks to both guys..
But if I quit my job and for example I want to go 3-4 months abroad for holidays will that be possible? I mean.. I will not ask for the chommage and still pay my insurance so for them I should still figure as resident, I suppose

Laura, if you have a registered residence here, and pay your bills, then the holiday is of no concern to anyone. its not a prison ;)))

ahah true, it's not a prison.. but sometimes it feels like it :P
It might be different now but I think I had to work in Geneva canton for one year after receiving my B permit in order to justify the fact that I had taken up the quota. But that was some time ago and the rules might be more relaxed now

well, I have no idea how does it works because I'm working and living in VD but the agency I'm with asked the permit to the canton of Geneva. When I've reminded her that I'm not anymore in Geneva she said that things where different/changing and that there is no problem. Maybe because the agency is in Geneva. No idea.
Anyway I'm waiting for the permit, as far as I'm concern it can take ages :°°°°(

Ah - you are with an agency. They will know the exact situation but wait until you have the permit in your hand before you ask them. Think it comes very quickly for an EU citizen

Hello, I was in the same position, I had a B permit as a EU citizen and my family had received B permits through mine. A year later I quit my job to stay at home with my children and I was afraid that we would loose the permits. I wrote a letter to OCP and they told me that as long as I don't ask for unemployment there would no problems with my permit. I could still later on take a new job in a different canton or here given the 'freedom of movement'. So as far as you have a permit in your hands you're free to work or not work. Happy travels

I've had the same situation when I quit my job some 6 years ago. As long as you can show you have sufficient income or capital to pay for yourself you should be fine.

Charlie - "The issue with the B is... she will need to be married to a permit holder or working to have the permit renewed (or transferred to a C) in 5 yrs."
She might also fall in love with a swiss national and get married then her B permit remains valid as long as their life time (or marriage) goes ;-)

Let me ask you, guys, is it true for everyone (employed) when permit B expires you receive permit C instead ? is it also for 5 years?

A B permit can be valid for the entire Switzerland and any employer, or it can be restricted to a canton/employer. Either way it will say so on the permit. so you will know the second you receive it.

If you are living in Vaud and getting a permit from Geneva, as that's where you are employed, once the permit is issued, you usually have to bring it to the Controle des Habitants in the town/municipality where you are living in Vaud (a visit which, of course, you should already have done within 7 days of arrival).
