Glocals - on a macbook... safari or firefox.. google chrome?

I use a Macbook Pro that's about 8 months old....Lately Glocals doesnt work on firefox..but it works on Safari (which is contrary to the past), but long threads cause my safari to crash..

Is there a new 'better' browser to use than Firefox?  Does anyone recommend Google Chrome?

Thanks =)

When did you last update Firefox? Maybe it is out of date?

Google chrome is nice and fast but it is not very safe to use and doesn't allow much customization. But if you go to trusted websites then you dont need to worry about safety...

Glocals seems fine on Chrome, but I second the advice to get the newest Firefox and try that.

if you have had an automatic update of java you will notice that glocals appears to be pushed to one side of the page etc. (on firefox) in order to remove this problem, you need to go to the tools menu in firefox, and scroll down to "clear recent history"

this should fix the problem. in future, do not accept the java update.

hope this is helpful.

I'm an Opera user myself. It's faster and snappier to use than the others. Unfortunately, it's also one of the browsers that doesn't play well with glocals javascript. Posting or replying to a thread, for example, will sometimes just not work.

@lexi have you tried Firefox in Safe Mode? If you press the "Option" key while clicking on Firefox, that's safe mode. See if it's any better.

I also use Safari and have had no problems what so ever. Probably worth asking the experts in an Apple store because it shouldnt be crashing

@adamG i agree with you that normally going to the Apple Store would be a good suggestion, but I have heard from several friends/clients who went to the Apple store here and well, they don't always seem to be experts. In one case, the question my friend had was SO simple and she told me that they had 3-4 people working on it for over an hour and the result was: something's wrong and we can't do it. She called me up and it took, literally, five minutes.

My client yesterday had a Mac-to-iPhone sync'ing problem. He lugged his desktop to the Apple Store, spent 2.5 hours there, 5 guys working on it, partial success, which means it worked once in the store, but never again since then. It was a challenge, I agree, but I fixed the problem in an hour by myself.

So, as much as I love Apple, the Apple Store concept, the Genius Bar, One on One, and all things Apple, I'm really not terribly happy with the service level at the Geneva Apple Store.

The one in Lausanne isn't much better, I will say they though.. even if they arn't very good at 'diagnosing' the problem, they at least ordered my new harddrive and replaced it for free, which I assumed they would find some way of getting out of..

I have the new firefox and it seems to be working.  Safari is weird for me - it crashes if I have alot of tabs open

Downloaded google chrome, but im not loving it.. think ill stick with firefox now that its working again.

Thanks for everyone's suggestions

Glocals works perfectly on Safari, Firefox and Chrome on both my MacBook and MacPro. But Safari has been unstable these past days, crashing often with other websites.

My neighbors at the Apple Store in Geneva are often not very proficient - very sweet but only able to answer the most essential questions and always trying to sell you services like MobileMe.

The best tech guys I have seen so far are the ones with the funky haircuts.

Good luck with it

MobileMe is a very useful service, but I agree that it's not a panacea and needs to be suggested or recommended not as a "You should buy MobileMe because that's what I was told to sell" but by learning the needs/concerns of the user and then showing how the features in MobileMe address those issues.

I've been a MobileMe user since it was Mac.com and I wouldn't give it up.
