GoL virtual neighbours
The "Semaine du Gout" is an annual event in September when people in Switzerland get together to celebrate all types of good food. Generally activities are organised in restaurants etc. but there is also a category (with no registration fee) encouraging neighbours to organise dinners together and discover their countries' specialities.
Since we in the GoL community could be considered "virtual neighbours" among whom there are many who enjoy meeting over a meal and learning about the specialities different countries have to offer, how about our organising a big pot-luck dinner /several pot luck dinners during this period?
Although the activities take place in September, to be involved officially we need to register our activity by the first week in May. Then our activity will appear in the brochure and on the website of the "Semaine du Gout" association.
This year is the 6th year of this event and it is running from 14-24th September.
To get started I'll need help organising and also at least one venue.
So who wants to get involved? Or who has other ideas for this activity?

hi there lentil,

fantastic idea - from among such a diverse group as GOL, we'd probably be able put together one of the most ecclectic potluck dinners on the planet. i can promise weisswurst, bretzels, and spaetzle from my home country of (southern) germany....

would be delighted to help out, Patrick

I'm getting the feeling that people want something a bit earlier than September ...? That's great!
How about meeting up for a drink on Sunday afternoon around 3 for a hour or so to discuss how we're going to develop this idea? If you can come along, drop me a line.
