Going to a Track day in France

Are there any petrolheads out there?

I am thinking of going to a trackday in France this fall, and would love an english-speaker to go with.

Anyone who loves driving - drop me a line!

I would be taking my own car (E46 M3), and I am open for pretty much anytime. There's one on next saturday at Circuit de Bresse, about an hour from Geneva.

I have tried reaching them, to find out specific times and whether or not there are any slots, but they have yet to respond.

You interested? I assume you are a Porsche-driver?

I am an owner but the 996 is in Miami so it won't help me much for a track day. I was curious because I was hoping to rent some open wheel car for a day. I used to have an E46 M3 in Imola Red and I still miss that car. Must be fun as hell around here.

Actually - with the amount of cameras and traffic around here, they take the fun right out of sportscar ownership. Driving home to Denmark in the Autobahn is fun, though.

In terms of rental, I am pretty sure Bresse has that kind of thing as well. A little rich for me though, I just want the chance to wring out my own car. I suspect there's dust building up in certain parts of the powertrain given how little it gets stepped on properly.

Are you in Lausanne?

Yes I am. I have a ticket on my desk too... ;-)

This road is fun and no cameras or traffic as it doesn't go through. Not that I would ever speed in Switzerland but if one were to want to this would be a as good a place as any...

Some spotty parts but overall decent. The end bit by the lake is really quite nice and there is a very odd hotel at the end where you can have a drink.

Hello,

Been there a couple times this year and this track is really safe.  Not the fastest but some good fun close to Geneva.

Open track days are usually on Fridays from 6 to 7.30pm.  As a Swiss resident, you need to call and book your spot.  The event is open to 30 cars max.

Cheers,Ping

Ping,

Thanks for the input - did you take your bike, or a car. A track with plenty of corners is fine for me. I get my Vmax fix driving to Denmark 2-3 times a year :-)

It looks like I'll need to attempt communication with the track by phone, because they don't seem very keen to answer written requests.

Do you know of any other track nearby? I am thinking of going to Dijon in the spring, as I have some people in the area I can bunk with.

Cheers,

Peter

Hi Peter,

Friday is for cars.  Bikes on Wednesday evening.

This track's advantages are the location close to Geneva and their open track-days.  Bigger (and more famous) tracks, like Dijon also have some track days (for bikes) but it seems that for these, you go through some clubs or agencies to take part, but plenty can be found.  Some of them will require some travel and logistic though.

I have some friends that only do trackdays (on bikes).  It would be a good idea to have a social outing with bikers so we can plan for the end of the season and discuss next.

As for the 4 wheels, I might still go this year to Bresse again or even to Spa and/or Nurburgring.  I think I'll post something in the group.

Cheers,
P.

As a racetrack it fell a bit short.  I did get some nice photos out of the trip.

Well, much of the road has homes on it and poor sightlines.  The bit at the end is better in this regard but it's also a bit narrow.  Actually it's hard to tell with all the snow around.

Either way it was an enjoyable drive and photo session.

Hey guys- I'm definitely up for trackdays, etc. in the coming few months (before it gets too snowy...) I'm recently back from tracking my brother's e36 M3 up at Watkins Glen in the USA- amazing fun. Also, of course, join up with: http://www.glocals.com/#/groups/geneva/geneva-car-enthusiasts-group.htm to find fellow petrolheads.

Cheers

Hi folks,

unfortunately, the event is full.

PBernstorff and I might still go for a ride, maybe to the track to see what we are missing...

Anybody up?

There is also that British Classic cars meeting in Morges on Saturday.
