Anyone know of good hotel websites which offer discount prices? Or sites where one can access last minute hotel deals. Am trying to find a not too expensive hotel room in Chicago during a conference and prices are horrendous!

There is not one website that offers the best prices constantly, you need to shop around. Unfortunately when there are large conferences prices do tend to take off. Have you talked to the conference organizers, sometimes they have negotiated prices with participating hotels.

Maybe I'm a bit late, but there is an app called 'Hotel Tonight' which is supposed to have last minute deals at 'good prices'.
I use Booking.com a lot and they tend to have the best deals.
Then there's always AirBnB. Sometimes you may find a nice flat at a reasonable price.
Good luck.
