Haiti relief donations?

Hi glocalers:

Do any of you have any information about where one can donate for relief efforts in Haiti? I really don't know which organizations are taking donations, and since Geneva is such a UN-agency and NGO city I thought someone here might know. I'll keep researching this myself but if any of you know of any organizations who do good work and are looking for donations please let me know.

The Swiss have a donation system when there are disasters called "la Chaine du Bonheur " which you can donate money to. You could probably go to any post office & ask for a pink slip to make a donation, they are used to this.

Hello Jawahara,

You can donate to a little organisation too. I know one who works in the provinces with the children and the office is here in Geneva. You can contact them at: [email protected] or 022 30196 37. www.soscrisdenfants.org

Hello everyone!

Actually, another glocals member and I will be organising an event for Haiti next Wednesday 20th January in the evening - venue to be announced by the end of the day.

Not only will a slideshow of Haiti be shown, music played, but we will be bringing payment slips from La Chaine du Bonheur and Médecins Sans Frontières with us for those who wish to contribute...

So if you can wait till then - we will be happy to have you!

Wow! Thanks for all the great ideas guys. And, good luck Wisdom, for the fundraiser. I'd like to donate as soon as I can and there seem to be a lot of great opportunities to do that in Geneva.
