 Hey Marz,

Happy Thanksgiving to you and other Canadians too.

Wish I was sinking my teeth into a mouth-watering Turkey, stuffing, and cranberry sauce today. That will have to wait until Christmas.

Cheers,

Kiki

Not really, no need to wait until xmas.
for the past 3 years i've been organising at the hotel ramada park in geneva, the american thanksgiving dinner.
menu is complete with everything including apple and pumpkin pie and vanilla ice cream for desert.
also, there is usually among other starters, clam chowder, mmmmm.

last year we were about 20 persons, so book early when you see the posting. usually around a week before the last thursday in november ( this year thksgvg is on the 26th)
gobble-gobble

Wish I could help, but I don't think there's anything happening.

Turkey with stuffing... Mmm that sounds so good!

I guess we have to wait a few more days till the American Thanksgiving organized by Epicure.

I ate so MUCH turkey, stuffing and homemade pumkin pie yesterday.I could barely move afterwards ! The advantage of timing your trips to Canada. Nice fall weather (cold and overcast).

Now I can enjoy the American Thanksgiving in CH as well. Yes.

Pumpkin is with a 'p'. Can't get used to these North American keyboards. Should have brought over one of my CH keyboards.

as a matter of fact there were more non  N. american diners last year at our dinner. again, the format will be 5 days to sign up. i give the names to the ramada restaurant, and everyone calls in giving their credit card to reserve their place and guess what? there have never been any "no-shows"  in fact the first year we had 3 extra people show up. turkey, sweet potatoes, stuffing, corn on the cob. only difference to being in N. america.........no NFL after dinner...ha, thank god for that!!!

Thank god for no football after Turkey Day!

I resent that! Blesphamy. Watching football after dinner is the best things ever, unless its an unbareable game like the 3-0 stuck in the mud game two years ago or whatever it was.

Can someone please explain what pumkpin pie is - I mean, the size of pumpkins these days! - cant even associate with "baking"??
Do you wrap one in pastry and then put it in the oven and bake it?
Do you peel it first?
What happens to the seeds - do you make sweet little necklaces out of them??
How big an oven do you need?!?
And how do you get it in there, when there's already a turkey in there?
Sounds gross.  So many questions, so little time......

Also do you know that Turkey's are the first breed of animal that have been interbred so much that they can no longer breed naturally (i.e. have a shag :-) - another gross thing to contemplate.   uuurrrrgggghhhhh!!!

Yeah, yeah, I know - Haggis is the grossest thing on the planet - bring on St Andrews day!

Neeps!! - now there's a vegetable that would never degrade itself by turning into a "pie" :-)

Fellow Scots out there - back me up please!! xx
