Have you seen David Bowie?
Hi, does anyone know where David Bowie lives?

Have you ever spotted him in line at the super market, walking in a park, buying baguettes at your boulangerie?

I have heard he lives/lived near Lausanne. Does anyone have any further info on this?

Curious,

Chrigela

he used to live in epalinges above lausanne. his son went to the commonwealth american school (now ISL, int'l school of lausanne). but that was over 20 years ago. Brian Ferry also used to live in lausanne, i saw him down at ouchy one time.

Just found this rather depressing info on some web site:

"In May of 1998, Bowie put his Swiss mansion "Hauts de Lausanne" on the market, bringing to an end a 15 year association with Switzerland, reportedly because his wife Iman prefers city life to the bucolic existence of the Swiss countryside."

Damn that Iman!

Though the same website also claims that

"Bowie also maintains a home in Switzerland, and one in New York, and a holiday home in Bermuda. When not working, Bowie spends most of his time in Bermuda."

Rather conflicting statements there. Unless he sold his mansion and bought an apartment in Lausanne or something. Does anyone know?

I also found out that his son is called Duncan Zowie Heywood Bowie! He appears to have been born (or at least named) at the height of Bowie's Ziggy Stardust era...

Now I also found this info on another website:

"The Château du Signal, a residence of over 20 rooms with an estimated value of 6 million Swiss francs, was sold and the event was covered in the London papers. But the star refuted the fact during a concert in Zurich, and affirmed that he still lived in French-speaking Switzerland."

Phew!

I'm betting that not one of you has thought to look in the telephone directory. What kind of stalkers are you?

He was here while ago, wasn't he. As an expat he probably has a Glocals account. Kylie has one and she doesn't even live in Switzerland! Have you tried looking backwards through the members? Just decrease the userid by one as you go. SiteAdmin demands that your photo is clear and resembles you... unfortunately Bowie is well-known for having sported many different hairstyles over the years. Probably for this very reason. I suggest you try and search for members with different eye colours. Look through old photographs of events. Maybe he was at some old Sindy beach party or something. Perhaps Wine & Tapas?

I notice there is no member called 'Bowie', but there are 55 using 'David'. How about that? There is one particularly suspicious character called Ziggy whose profile appears to tick a lot of the right boxes. Apart from gender, although it was often rather difficult to tell with Dave.

Ha ha. I am a pretty bad stalker by all accounts, or I have gotten significantly lazier since high school. Its said his house was sold, but who doesn't know he doesn't have another place here in CH?

But that Brian Ferry lives near Lausanne is even MORE exciting than David Bowie. . . this is the first I had ever heard of that. I have work to do!

Phil Collins lives outside Nyon, I hear. Wouldn't he be a little more up your alley?

[ In the phone book he spells it Philippe. Not very convincing there, Phil. ]

C'mon Bryan Ferry is pretty alright. Roxy Music were great.  But Phil Collins?! Just I admire rockers from this specific age category, doesn't mean I will take them all. Are you looking to get excommunicated real time soon?

Hayes has a thing for 'Philippe' Collins, everybody knows that (not least mr Collins himself).

As for Bryan Ferry, I would choose to stalk Bowie over him any day. Although I have to agree that he is one of the more stalkable celebrities in Switzerland (given that Lord Byron, Mr and Mrs Shelley, Oscar Kokoschka, Charlie Chaplin and Graham Greene are all dead).

in fact, jackie stewart sold his home to phil collins....it's called "Clayton House"......i know because i visited there many times in the late 80's........ as for the other "rich and famous" in the region: the late Peter Ustinov (we had lunch together), Audrey Hepburn (we had tea together), Roger Moore in Gstaad, Joan Southerland in Les Avants. Dianna Ross in Verbier. I met them all, but not through stalking :-)

I can beat it, also with a Geneva airport encounter.

Time before last I was there, this woman came up to me, all kind of speedy. Her eyes were darting about a bit, I think she was looking nervously back at a friend but it was a bit hard to say. Anyway, she looked at me and started 'Y.. You... You're Hayes.. aren't you. That one... that one from the forums....'. Then she started hyperventilating, passed out, and hit her head on the luggage carousel. Good thing my suitcase was among the first off the belt; that was a situation I really could have done without.

Am deeply impressed both by the Sofia Lauren and the Audrey Hepburn incident. Although having tea with Audrey still beats running in to Sofia at the airport.... sorry Diva!

Epicure: when you say that you and Audrey Hepburn had tea together, does that mean that you accidentally sat at a table in the same café as her and you both drank tea, or does it mean that the two of you sat at the same table and had a conversation? In that case, what did you talk about?
