Health insurance with Bupa International in Canton de Vaud

Hello,

Does anybody have experience with the health insurance company Bupa International in Canton de Vaud? Bupa is supposed to be much cheaper than Swiss health  insurance companies, but I have read some posts where it was mentioned that in Zurich Swiss administration were making problems (not recognising them as a valid insurance company and insisting on getting a Swiss health policy).

Thanks!

When I first came here I had a policy with PPP international (similar to BUPA) and managed to keep it going for about 2 years.  The I receieved a letter from the authorities advising that I was obliged to take out Swiss insurance.

Much more expensive but easier to deal with and quick to reimburse

You should talk to BUPA and discuss these concerns with them and also with your HR department as different rules exist depending on your status.  If you work for an international organisation, I would assume you are allowed to chose whichever medical insurance you wish.

BUPA and PPP do not accept to pay for previously diagnosed meidical conditions.  They might also work on the basis of the UK National Health Service where doctors try not to send you to a specialist to reduce the number of claims.

In UK BUPA hospitals are very good but are not as well equipped as the NHS ones in the event of a complication during (for instance) surgery

Thank you Paul,

I guess I will just check comparis.ch and probably go for a normal Swiss insurance to avoid all the extra hurdle.
