As a relatively regular customer of the Heaven Lounge Bar in paquis i was amased by the gaul of one of the ''silent partners'' or '' bob'' as i will refer to him in this thread. I explained to him that i was a stranger and a customer in HIS bar and that his recent unprovoked outburst was unacceptable and his apology was definately NOT accepted.
In future i think that ' bob' should have nothing to do with anything 'hospitality' and perhaps be banned from his own floor space for drinking all the profits and harrassing the paying customers.
Has anyone else felt the wrath of BOB??

is that geneva is a city driven a lot by what's cool now. I've been around for a while in the expat comunity and I've seen the pattern. A new place open, or someone finds a new place, it's nice, some ppl like it, it becomes popular, more ppl goes there, becomes even more popular, everyone wants to go there all the time, ppl get bored of Always going to the same place, start looking for a new one .. and it starts again. I've seen it happening before GOL (where every expat in my company used to spend every friday or saturday at DemiLune), then with GOL (and it was the Lounge and then Calamar, Zcube) and now with Heaven.
I don;t think GOL has anything to do with it. It's the way things goes here. And even if i agree that the objective of this comunity is helping ppl to make friends .. no one is professionally going 'bar hunting' to find a new place, so the events get organized were the organizer wanna go, or where do the organizer happen to know someone to make easier the reservation process for big groups.
In the end, even when i am not out with GOLers everyone else wants to go to Heaven these days (and it was another place before that) .... that's life.
Just my point of view on how a place becomes cool in this town :)

However to get back to the original posting; it is a bad experience to have had. It's a shame and i think it was right to be posted for others to see. It is now up to them what they think (should he have accepted the apology, wotever), what they do, where they go. If he had been robbed in there (or anywhere), we would want to know about it.

I may be too sensetive here, but this comes on a background of some amazing stuff that people (usually the same 2-3) suggested about GoL in the past few months, such as that GoL is really a P&G plan to get P&G people to mate together (I swear people posted this), and that GoL is just a front for setting up Clubs.

I used to like GOL because they make us discover the town and his bar with great party, small and big (the legend SINDY'S). perfect for expat and even for swiss people... but since the HEAVEN open, finish to discover the town, welcome to the paquis !!!!!! and we receive a lot of mail for that :

You know it, Nir, I am a transparency fan. So don't mind saying "Hobbes raised questions about GOL finances (and got some answers, but not all of them, as can still be read on former pages of this forum)". I stand to what I said, and this very post kind of proves me right: suspicions, paranoia and conspiracy theories idealy get to live where some lack of transparency lies.
I don't want to go back to "wild" theories about it, start arguments or annoy anyone about it. But look at it from an outside view: you officially announced lat year that you would open / become partner of a bar by the end of 2006. Doesn't it just make sense to wonder if Heaven could be that place, while no news have been given about it since, and that most GOL official events suddenly shifted to Heaven ? There is no "conspiracy" accusation here whatsoever, just a "have I missed the post where he said he was happy to annouce us he got a partnership with them ?". Full point.

Hi Frank from heaven here. I will try and answer the various points that have been raised. “Bob” gave some money in startup costs for Heaven. As you will have gathered he is a busy trader and has no role in the running or operations of Heaven. He comes in from time to time as a costumer because like many other people he likes the place. When he comes to Heaven he pays for his drinks like any other costumer and is treated like any body else. On Friday night “Bob” and Emanuel had words over commodity trading methods. I, who was standing about one meter away from them, never heard anything or had any idea that they had words. The bar did not come to a standstill, everyone did not look around. The first I knew was when later Emanuel told me “Bob” had been rude to him. I asked Emanuel what had been said but he wouldn’t tell me so there was not a lot I could do.
I have since heard both versions of what happened that night and needless to say they are different. I am sure there are elements of truth and exaggeration in both versions. “Bob” does not speak or act for Heaven in any way shape or form and I do not speak for him. He was there as a customer and as far as I can see this is a disagreement between two customers in a bar at midnight. Had Emanuel not found out from a third party that “Bob” had helped out Heaven it would have stayed as a disagreement between two customers.
I have since spoken to Emanuel and apologized if there was anything that I or any of my staff had done that was out of order.
Knowing both of the people involved I can honestly say that they are both good guys who had a bit of a Barney. These things happen in bars.
To move on to the other issues raised; GOL has NO financial interest in Heaven. Heaven is a public company anyone can check this!!! On a personal level I think Nir and Iolly are great, positive and dynamic people. They have created a great networking site and as a foreigner in Geneva I obviously have lots of common ground with the GOL crowd. We have always welcomed the Gol’ers and expats in general to Heaven. Since the opening of Heaven there has been one musical chairs dinner, one new years eve party and Sherri has done a couple of NM Drinks there. Hardly a monopoly on the Geneva social scene. I hope there will be lots more GOL events there and look forward to welcoming GOLers for a long time to come.
As for Heaven being a fad or flavour of the month, I have been in this business for 12 years and will continue to be for a long time to come. There does seem to be a handful of people on GOL with an axe to grind. Is it because of their involvement with other bars and restaurants or is is just envy at the success of Heaven?

The way to go Billy....who give a dime to who is the owner of which joint....or is making bucks...? At the end of the night, what's matter is did you had a good time or not (owners can make a big difference)?
I don't like shakers from the begining but Billy have so far made our nights out there a blast. All I can add is that I have great fun there with friends & Billy is making sure we are having fun.... This is not advertising for Billy or Cooper as I am just using him a a sample as a place like any others.
I am just a simple guy who go out & come home happy because I had a good time with my friends. That's what counts for me at the end of my night or early morning, the rest is chinoiseries!!

As for the bar being the flavour of the week ... this is Geneva, there'll always be a new flavour of the week, but only the really cool place last :) .. and I am sure Heaven is one of those :)

A lot of reading for me tonight :) I just wanted to say that Heaven is a real great place. poeple, service, food, and place everything there is just fantastic.So many postings, defintly shows that it is a place that really counts in Geneva life. Badmouthing or compliments , it is enough to prove that it is a place that does not let poeple indifferent! For all the great gatherings I had there, i can't keep silent : THANK YOU frank for the great work you and your team have been doing and though I am not a regular client ( will think of it, the day you agree on letting me bring my sofa and pyjamas and dvds :) I just had enough great experience with your place to wish you all long life ! As or the GOL link , mamamia :) what funny thing one can read ! Well as it is the thank you night and being completely anonymous I don't care about being cheesy tonight :) Thank you Nir and your gang for making geneva life so lively : you are great poeple
