Help to find service to pick up unwanted furniture please

We have some furnitures to give away. We tried donation associations, since they are to big therefore didn't take them.

We have Macy's wood bedframes (Queen), 6 drawers dresser, sofabed, double sofa, etc.

Do anybody know a service or person who could come to our apt to get them, soonest?

Thanks in advance for your help

The city removes all large unwanted items for free (objets encombrants). You just ring them to organise a collection date and everything must be outside the evening before so they can collect at 6.30am.

Link to the city page which details all this: http://www.ville-geneve.ch/themes/environnement-urbain-espaces-verts/proprete-recyclage/objets-encombrants/

I've used Emmaus and found them reliable - and you'll be contributing to a good cause...

Objects/Furniture will only be collected if in reasonable condition.

C aritas and the Salvation army Armée de salut are other options

Try also [email protected] - there is a related website

If items are huge the problem will be getting a team of people to move them

For example I need a sofa/sofa bed but to avoid the hassle I am just going to buy one and have the shop deliver

If you live in a flat the concierge will teéé you how to contact the voirie to have furniture moved but you must place it out side the house/appartment yourself

With the charitable organistions above, you may on occasion have to wait one or two weeks for them to pick up, due to their workload. One quoted me 3 weeks once..so ring all of them and find the quickest.

Another possibility could be to ask your concierge if they know of anyone. Often they have quite a reseaux at their disposal behind them.

Another possibility as they sound good quality might be to ask some of the traders on Plainpalais flea market if they might be interested themselves or suggest someone else.
