Hiking gear

I'm kitting myself up for light mountain hiking: where's the best place to buy good-value gear?

Decathlon, in Annemasse, is great. They mostly sell their own brands, but the quality isn't bad and it's very cheap.

Not that wasy to get to without a car though - or with a car, for that matter. I can't remember how many times I've been stuck in the Annemasse one-way system.
