If you live close to the border, have a look under "Leboncoin.fr" which is our local on-line website for all items for sale [second hand mostly] in the area. You simply have to click on the Rhone-Alps section, then put in a post-code [example we live in 74500 Evian] and then probably the white goods or ameublement section. Good luck, and if you need any help, just let us know!
PS we have some friends relocating to Holland next month - whether they are selling any white goods we don't know but we could ask them if you are interested....

Have a look at the Armée du Salut (Salvation Army) warehouse on route de Chêne in Geneva (near the “Gare des Eaux-Vives”) and also google the addresses of similar outlets run by Caritas, the Centre social protestant, Emmaus, among others.
They all have plenty of secondhand stuff to sell.
