Hi Nadine,
You need a Swiss work contract while living in an EU country (or an EFTA country, except Switzerland, of course). To be eligible for a G permit, you need to return to the home address at least once a week.
Your employer is responsible to file the G permit application with the responsible migration office (canton of work location) before you start working. Processing times depend on the canton.
