How to find and join a football league (as a new team)

Hi everyone,

A few months back a few of us from the usual saturday football group in vessy formed a team. Now we're wondering if anyone knows how to join either the company leagues or how to enter the swiss leagues.

We've had several friendlies but are looking to get the competitive side up and running.

Any information would be most appreciated
Thanks!
Fuz

p.s. If you have a team and want to arrange a game, don't hesitate to get in touch.

Hi Farzam,

This is Alberto. Sorry to reply to your question with another question, but I was wondering if you happen to know any team in Geneva that one could join, maybe a team you have played against.

Thanks,

-Alberto

Hi Alberto,

There are a bunch but getting into one, thats a different issue. I started one with a few friends, but I don't know about getting into one, they usually a squad of about 30-50 people on an email list.

Check the 'things to do' for the saturday games (~11am), it's an open game and you never know, you may be able to squeeze into a team from the melange of players there.

I would be keen on joining a football team too Alberto. Exactly what Farzam said maybe we can have a look on Saturday to see a team could be formed. I know a few friends who work for the corporate leagues. They were doing indoors football at the school I work in.

Christopher, I also think Farzam's suggestion is probably the way to go. The only thing for me is that I will not be in Geneva next time until the beginning of May, so I have to postpone my Saturday appearance until then. Maybe you can let me know how it goes or if you meet someone looking for players. I am also scouting another trail through some colleagues of mine, and I'll let you know if that brings anywhere.

Hello,

I am looking to play football once or twice a week in the Geneva/Versoix area.

I would like to know if there is people playing informal football on Saturdays/Sundays? If not, maybe we could try to organise something.

FYI. for those who wish to play in a amateur league, just go into the ACGF (regional FA) website and look for clubs playing in the 4th or 5th league. Just call the coach and tell them you would like to train with them. They usually welcome you in at least just for training. If you are good enough they will offer you to play for them and "sign you up". Most of the clubs train in Vessy, Bout-du-Monde and Onex but you can also find teams in some districts (versoix, perly, vernier, veyrier etc...).

Cheers,
