How to meet like-minded single people?

So,I've done a few Glocals Afterwork things,but I find myself mostly with sporty,affluent ex-pats with whom I have nothing in common.


I am a non-affluent ex-pat.I have an active social life - but mostly with younger people as all my older friends are heavily involved in their families....


I yearn to meet people of my age with similar interests: I love going to indie rock concerts and venues,going out for drinks,interesting cinema,discussing current affairs,sharing ideas. I am NOT SPORTY - a big handicap here,it seems- though people think I look athletic (!!) I love swimming but don't swim well. I love horse-riding but lack the resources and transport.I enjoy gentle walks in the countryside. I love music (Peaches,Meat Beat manifesto,Franz Ferdinand,Morrissey(yes!),Arctic Monkeys....It's difficult to find soulmates at 50

My fiancée and I have faced a similar problem in Geneva (I understand you're in Lausanne, but that's only a short train-trip away :) and have decided to do something about it - no easy feat, let me tell you! But if you're interested, or in GVA sometime, check out the events page for us, and sign up Laughing (look for Au Menu)


As of today, the October 21st event is almost full (only 3 seats left for some fun-loving guys if they're out there!), but we're working on November and even December already. Looks like we struck a vein here in GVA... :)

Hey Buzzcocks - my heart breaks when I read posts like yours. 


But all is not lost! 


Join the Lausanne Over 30's group - a total mixed bag of people from all walks of life - young, old/affluent, non affluent/sporty, non sporty/expats, non expats - just normal, balanced (slightly unbalanced depending on the amount of alcohol being served!) people in exactly your shoes, wanting to meet other people for company, chats, and - possibly soulmates (and stop lying about your age - no way you're 50!).


There are SO many things going on in this lovely little village of ours, but I have to sign off,  as I'm going out to meet friends (glocal friends) for a quiet Saturday night drink after a day at the Chestnut Festival (with glocals friends, did you miss than one? - was fun!).


And on the back of today, we're doing a walk (not a hike) tomorrow with lots of chat and coffee stops along the way.  You would be MORE than welcome to come along for anything.  All you have to do is tick the little RSVP box....nothing else....and you'll be welcomed with open arms.


And if that doesn't work, you can always go join Tom and Mrs in Geneva! :-)

Alas,Geneva is two buses AND a train away - not really ideal for socializing for me(especially in winter!)


But have had a reply from lausanne too.
