How to solve the economic crises

The Business Section asked readers for ideas on "How Would You Fix the Economy?"

I think this guy nailed it!

Dear Mr. President:

Please find below my suggestion for fixing America 's economy.

Instead of giving billions of dollars to companies that will squander the money on lavish parties and unearned bonuses, use the following plan.

You can call it the Patriotic Retirement Plan:

There are about 40 million people over 50 in the work force.

Pay them $1 million apiece severance for early retirement with the following stipulations:

1) They MUST retire. Forty million job openings - Unemployment fixed.

2) They MUST buy a new American CAR. Forty million cars ordered - Auto Industry fixed.

3) They MUST either buy a house or pay off their mortgage - Housing Crisis fixed.

It can't get any easier than that!

If more money is needed, have all members of Congress and their constituents pay their taxes...

If you think this would work, please forward to everyone you know.

If not, please disregard. Then shoot yourself!!!! 1 job opening

OK, I'm no expert on how economies work, but where does the 40 trillion dollars come from?

Seems too easy to be true. However, I cannot see the catch.

I'll be 50 next year. Wonder if anyone will offer me a million....

Not a very smart propositions.  Aside for the 40 trillion dollars part and world GDP being around 60 trillion USD, just imagine, you are a CEO of a car company or work in construction business.  After the hyperinflation, as a result of new USD printed, you would charge those people any price you like for the car or a house, as they must buy.  So a crappy Saturn (an American car) would cost about a million USD, or maybe just the wheels.

"there is always an easy solution to every human problem: neat, plausible, and wrong."

wow, a lot of serious replies on an initial post stating solutions to a crisis definition right out of a tabloid newspaper. useless.

JustDoIt: surely you can see that this thread was started as an amusing post, and not as a real solution or a real discussion on the solution. No need to get all excited!

If you want to start a serious thread about solutions, go ahead.

JustDoIt:

I suggest again, and I'm serious: why don't you start a different thread where you discuss solutions to the issue, and where it's clear you want the discussion to be serious.

fairness is a wish for all, I guess.but it's surely not a word for this world (otherwise, many would not look for it in what they call "heaven"). if people couldn't sometimes make fun of unfairness, this last would all kill us, tCryrtured by grief!
