I respect women because they can be anything they want and don't have to conform to a stereotype
- they can be charming.....or bolshy;they can be tender....or hard-nosed pragmatists without whom things don't get off the ground!
They can be brutally honest when necessary - even if it hurts people's feelings.They may show "divinity" as mothers or be brave enough to say they have never felt maternal and so decided not to bring children into the world -and feel comfortable with that even if other people find it weird.
They can be tender and caring - but not necessarily about fluffy rabbits!
They can be warriors when they feel common goal that needs radical action.
They can swear and drink too much and laugh loudly without feeling this makes them lesser human beings than their male counterparts.
They can organise effective non-violent,non-hierarchical protest groups(so no power struggles) - whilst being totally committed to their goal
They are quietly growing in confidence in all areas of life......

I agree totally - why a special thread about respecting women.It should be taken for granted - like we respect men,hermaphrodites,whatever.
The fact it even has to be said is.....problematic in itself!
