I just had a look at your video. I didn't vote because I didn't look at the other speakers and that would be unfair.

Are you still looking for feedback on your video/speech? Could you still make changes?

First - I can't really relate to your message because I'm not a spiritual person. This is not a point of criticism (of either of us); I think you will find an audience for your message quite easily. But for this reason I won't comment on the message you're trying to convey; instead I will focus on your use of the medium (speech and video).

The positive: You have a very natural way of speaking, a clear voice, good body language and posture, which makes it easy to listen to you. You have a message that you believe in and that belief resonates in the video.

For improvement: Only one thing, but very important - It takes too long for you to make your point. While you tell your life story in chronological order, the listener is wondering where you're going. And while they're wondering that they stop paying attention to what you're saying, so when you finally do make your point it has little impact.

How I would fix it: The best way to hold an audience's attention is to present people with a contrast; for example between how things are now and how they could be. This makes people listen because they are curious how you can get from A to B.

In your case you could create a contrast between where you thought you would be when you were 15 and where you are now. Or what you thought would be 'happiness' and what you think it is now. Make sure that (possibly after a brief introduction) you start with your message (right after presenting the contrast). And then spend the rest of your speech explaining how the 'gap' is bridged. And you finish again with your message.

Hi Edward,

Thank you so much for taking the time to view my personal message and posting your comments below. I appreciate your comments both from a positive and improvement standpoint. It is really kind of you. Your feedback is so helpful in helping me 1) refine my personal message, and 2) to become a better speaker.

I do understand your point of view of not voting. It would be great if you could take a second and simply copy and paste your comments just below my video by clicking on the words "Add a Comment". I would really appreciate it.

Thank you once again for your support in helping me become a great speaker.

Best wishes to you,

Chris

I would do that, but it's a Facebook comment (not one proprietary to the website).

Instead, let me *bump* this post again and encourage some more people to have a look at the video.

Dear Fellow Glocals,

I am not sure if you have viewed my speech based to redefine success. If you did I wanted to thank you so much. My speech has been viewed over 300 times. I really appreciate your support and votes to help me in progressing to the next round of the Greatest Speaker and Author competition. I have been promised by the contest administrators that your e-mail will not be shared with anyone. The purpose of having your e-mail is to protect the integrity of the voting process. Thank you once again for supporting me.

Have an excellent Sunday and week ahead,

Chris
