I'm looking to buy a violin. I'm a complete beginner and still a student (i.e. poor) so I can't really invest in a very expensive one.
Does anybody have a violin they no longer want that they'd be willing to sell to an enthusiastic beginner? Or does anyone know of any shops around that might sell used violins for an affordable price?

You could to go to a "luthier" and see if you can rent one.
You're futur teacher should be able to give you some advice ! An other idea If you go to the conservatory of geneva you could ask someone there ....
I got mine from a very nice shop in the U.K they sent it to me by post ( including insurance ) sadly my teacher moved away just when I got it =P
