Information needed for new dog owner in Geneva

Hi all,

Could anyone that has a new dog and gone through the process of registering the dog with the Canton advise me?

I am getting a new pup in January, he will have a micro-chip as this will be done by the breeders vet before I get him. I wanted to register him with the canton and get a license for him. I've researched online and get conflicting information. So anyone that has gone through this process I would really appreciate your help. I also need to know if I must to the theory dog owners course prior to getting the pup or not. If I need to do it could anyone recommend an approved trainer in Geneva?

You normally pick up the ANIS package at the Vet's.

You will also do the CH passport at the same time.

Sorry can't help with the Geneva trainer.

Sorry, I should add, the breeder will have already opened an ANIS account so you will probably just need to change the contact details. Remember to give a mobile number so if you are out looking for the dog, the police can find you.

It will probably be you who will need to do the passport part.

@ Verbier Thank you I will ask the breeder about this. Do you know anything about a mandatory dog owners course?
