International Driving License - valid in Geneva?
I've been in Switzerland for over 4 years, and didn't need, until now, to use my driving license, so I still have my UK one. My research shows I was supposed to get it swapped over to a Swiss one within one year of being here...otherwise you have to take the test again!!

Any advice around this? Would an international driving license be enough?

I am thinking of buying a car, so this question has become more urgent....

Thanks in advance for any tips.

Well, you could try to exchange it, I have heard about people who exchange it after like 1.5 year, try.

Have a look here, http://geneva.angloinfo.com/information/11/exlicence.asp

you will also find the form you need.

No, you need a swiss licens if you have an swiss visia. If not you will not have a valid licens, something that the police might not check if they stop you, but if you are in an accident you insurence might not be valid. So get one ;)
