International car rental

Hi there folks.

Need to rent a car for a journey Geneva - Edinburgh, just one way. Can any of you recommend a company in particular?

Thanks in advance and happy Easter!!!

Juan Carlos.

That won't work, because the company will charge you a ridiculous amount to get the car back to Geneva. I mean hundreds of Euros; it may even be cheaper to buy a really car and get rid of it when you arrive in Edinburgh. It's also a 2-day road trip and you'll spend another fortune on gas.

I assume that you don't want to just fly or take the train because you have a lot of luggage to transport. Unless you need to get your stuff to Edinburgh I'd just send it with International shipping, and take 2 large suitcases with you on the plane.

what you could also do - call all the rental companies if they have a UK car somewhere. They would normally let you take that one way without extra charges since they don't need to reposition it. Just call all the mayor ones. It might cost a couple of phonecall - but with a bit of luck get you exactly what you need at a decend price.

Did this once from Budapest to Vienna, turned out only adding 50euro on top of rental fee.

Yeah that's what I was expecting. For that cost you can buy a second-hand car that may just last you until Edinburgh.

Hang on I misread that earlier, thought it was 500 extra. 50 is not so bad and sounds pretty incredible.

In the U.S., with AVIS, when I rented a car in Las Vegas and dropped it off in San Francisco I think I had to pay around $200 extra.
