Where does Zonker work? is it at King of GSM? I went there yesterday and with my iphone 4 version 4.3.5 and the guy said it couldn't be unlocked. Any recomendations?

I haven't checked about unlocking in a while because the Unlock Gods have been stymied for about 12-18 months or more and have not been releasing unlocks - perhaps because they are unable to unlock.

The King of GSM people are very likely correct. If you can, please go into Settings > General > About and tell me the "Version" (you say it's 4.3.5, but just want to be sure) and the Modem Firmware. Also, which model iPhone do you have?

The answers to those questions will determine if an unofficial unlock is possible.

That said, there *may* be another *official* option. It doesn't work in all countries, but maybe for Brazil (or wherever you got your phone). If you bought an iPhone on contract and a minimum amount of the contract has already expired and then you change countries, the cell phone company may be required by law to unlock the phone. So, check your old company to see if that's the case. If so, you provide them with proof you are gone and they submit your phone's ID (IMEI) to Apple, they unlock it, and voilà! you're done forever.

I also recommend Zonker (he's the guy that posts on this forum, he doesn't work for King of GSM). He knows everything and charges very fair prices.

Thanks for the quick reply. Well the guy didn't even bother looking at my phone version at the King of GSM store. He just saw it was newer then an Iphone 3G and said it wasn't possible. I actually just moved here from the USA so the carrier is an american company called AT&T. It's an iphone 4 not 4S. I got it 1.5 yrs ago.

Oh I forgot to mention that I already have one of those gevey cards that I was told in the USA was all I needed to unlock but I guesss it isn't.
