Feeling a bit miffed at not being able to join the 'fun' of voting in the multitude of referenda which keep popping up here. I can't help but think that certain things should be open to be voted on by 'residents' rather than nationals since all residents are affected and the smoking vote is a great example...
I have the uncomfortable feeling that a superhighway could be proposed to be built past my door but 50% of the resident population wouldn't be able to air their view in a referendum because they carry the wrong papers.... Is there a point (eg after getting a C permit, etc) at which the Swiss authorities allow a permit holder to vote in this country on a local or a national level?

After twelve years, you can go for citizenship, IIRC.;-)But you can vote with your wallet every time...
That's it, basically.
