It's supposed to be a safe city!!
..but someone smashed the driver side window of my car and stole some stuff from it last night. The car was parked right outside my apartment building and not in some hidden alley way. It is a company car so I didn't have to pay for fixing it up but still it sucks.

But if you left things visible temptatioin is always a problem. Not as safe as it used to be but by all means it is a safe town.

When people say it's safe in Geneva, it doesn't mean there is little crime - there are plenty of robberies, thefts, pickpocketing, scams, etc - moreso than most of us would expect. What "safe" does mean is that the myriad of crime and criminals at work here tend to be less violent than other places. They will do what they have to do to take your belongings, but for the most part, they''ll do what they can not to hurt you.

There is a definite Robin Hood thing going on in Geneva. It's so prevalent that getting your car or apartment robbed is almost a right of passage. No one gasps in astonishment - it's an unfortunate part of everyday life in the Geneva region. Disappointing, but true.
