Jazz Jam sessions- free entrence
Nice place to hang out and relax in the evenings listening to some good jazz improvisations. Free entrence and cheap drinks too. What more can you ask for? Its at the AMR at 10 rue des Alpes near the main Geneva train station every Tuesday night there is a Jam session, starts at 21.30 but really gets going at about 22.00. If you like jazz you'll like this...

Other Jazz concerts also organised on other days, sometimes with fees. For those check out http://www.amr-geneve.ch/

It is difficult to find jazz online.
Maybe geneva's AMR do IP-broadcast/podcast jazz tunes?
Thanks,
B.

- to smoke (it's non smoking, except at the bar)
- to shout out loud in big group discussions while the bands are playing
- to get lots of beers and complain about how "crap" the music is, just because it's not your kind of music, or because they are students

I know, it may sound stupid or even rude to ask / recommand those things, but I've seen with my own eyes bunchs of expats that had obvioulsy been misinformed about what AMR was all about. It's an association and a school, not a pub. Nothing bad happened. But we could even feel, at the end of last season, a growing impression that english speaking persons were not that much welcome anymore. Hope mutual understanding will be better this year. But be warned and please try do do your best to improve Local - Expats relations.

It has always been about 50-50 between expat and locals and has worked fine... and i ve been going there for years now. Its a great little place, but i agree, if you aren t there to enjoy the jazz then it is wasted on you and you are wasting it for others, its a lose-lose situation. I did highlight it was for people who liked jazz, not a pub type thing. Last night was also a special night, the transfrontier jazz contraband was there which is why it was too packed, definately not the best evening there.

were played on this top quality ip radio web-site this morning. They are playing cool.
The site shows the schedules of tunes with the references on artists and albums, also some info for jazz events. It is well designed and has an all cosy style :)

This is being a cool friday, there'll be some more swing in emails, reports, etc. codes :0)

Cheers,
B.
