Someone else was trying to find some specific supplies so I thought maybe it would be good to share my Jim's British Market Experience. I had a recent baking disaster from trying to modify a recipe... Cream of tartar, HP Sauce, curry pastes ... some of these things just don't substitute easily and I'm not wealthy enough to sample everything until I find something close!
I found Jim's online and decided to check it out... next week is a fresh delivery week anyone thinking of going.
My shopping today included:
- Kippers in brine
- Robertson's mincemeat
- Bird's Custard Powder (trifle, mmmmmm)
- Cream of Tartar, Baking Powder and Baking Soda (in proper tins and not little packs!)
- McVities Digestives
They had Walkers cookies, Philidephia cream cheese and so many candy and condiments to choose from :w00t:
I'm off to make mincemeat pies for supper *giddy laughter* :D

And now he stocks Lorne (aka flat/square) sausage too for fellow Scots out there. Not to mention proper bacon and black pudding. All the best ingredients for a hang over cure!:)

Jim has frozen black puds and I think fresh when the shipment arrives ;) They do special orders too, in case there's something you're craving...
Yes, I've seen some products at Champion, Migros and InterDiscount, but it's just that one "International" section. If you bake it's always nice to know your recipes will work out too! My mince pie dough is chilling and I'm about 1.5 hours away from 12 steaming pies *drool*
