Job Cuts Novartis, any news?

Friend called me in a panic, having accepted a job in Basle Novartis, but not yet given notice in a safe hospital job in Germany, does anyone know if the job cuts are over and done with now (taking into consideration this type of job is always a moveable feast) or are there more to come?

I have told him to stay where he is, even tho the money is not half as good. Any thoughts?

Thanks. Z.

Tell him to stay where he is.  There's been a layoff festival going on since January in different companies within Switzerland, including Novartis (and its divisions), and there are a ton of people competing for jobs.  So right now, in my opinion, if he currently has a "safe" job, then its better to stick to it.

Thanks both, interesting that job cuts seem to be happening all over Switzerland, is there a reason for this?

The surging value of franc has created headaches for exporters. Also Global economic crisis, Especially in EU zone!

Its not the first time that companies merge and sometimes cut jobs down in Switzerland. This has been happening for the last few years. In the early 80s this happened every day and still people can live with this in Switzerland.
