Job offer

Hello,

Please some advice. My girlfriend who is still in The Netherlands got a job offer for accountancy in a senior role but has no work experience in the field but does have a bachelor degree on the subject. As she is the only one they could find to fit the role as there are some specifics, they are seriously considering her for the position. Now they want to know her wage expectancy.

We read the minimum wage in accountancy as a starter is around 67.000 CHF a year. As this is a senior role, what wage can she demand?

Thanks for any advice.

Salary calculator in Switzerland: http://www.lohnrechner.ch/usage/branche.php?l=F

To tell the truth, a starting salary for someone with Bachelor's degree straight out of university is around 60'000-65'000 a year or more.

For a senior position it should be more BUT, provided she has no work experience, the employer may negotiate for less. Still, try to not go below 5000 brut a month. Having less will give you spending restrictions.

i would be more worried about the company's future....if they hire a person with     " no experience in the field" for a senior position there must be something wrong. especially in today's market where you can find so many people with experience who are out of work.! i wouldn't worry about what salary she is offered. ( she was asked her salary expectation!! that is also so out of line with practice ) in the words of that great tennis superstar " you cannot be serious" .

Thank you all for your responses!

So far it's all I have noticed aswell. Companies always ask me and I read this is common practice. Now I haven't done many interviews, but Swiss companies do accept if you turn that question around and ask them what they are willing to pay?

yes, you can always say something like " well, i'm sure you have your salary budget range, and as i am not working or presently living in switzerland, could you please kindly inform me what salary range you have allocated for this position?"

you get the idea. also salaries are often not only money but also benefits, so you might ask what is included in their "package"
