Well I just took advantage of one of the GOL deals, and saved myself 108chf. I know I sound like a walking talking ad, but I can't help but be impressed by saving 20% on what was already a good price for car hire.

How much do we have to pay you to wear a T-Shirt saying 'I saved money with GoL' and wear it in town this month?

by the way Kiriel have you checked out thsi mobility scheme?
www.mobility.ch, they have cars in Villereuse car park and there are normally at least two availabel everytime i look.
I intend to use this scheme from now on and have talked to a number of people who use it and they are all very happy. aparently as long as you are not going to the south of france/Italy etc, then it is a very affordable way to hire a car :-)

Mobility is great for short distances or weird hours. I've been using it in Lausanne for more than a year now. My favourite aspect is renting anything from a truck to a Smart at 4AM on a Sunday :). The hourly rate during the night is super cheap, but kilometers will kill you. I usually take the train for longer trips, but whenever there are 3 people or more in the car it gets quite competitive if you split costs.

and we love it!
It is best for smaller trips though, since the charge per km can get a bit pricey, but it is always cheaper than renting a car the traditional way!! It is so convenient and there seem to always be cars available. We have used is quite a bit, for trips to Ikea or when people in town visiting, or when I don't feel like taking the bus. :)

but i thought that you get a half price train pass with the mobility scheme? I thought that idea was that for any long journeys you take the train to the closest mobility centre and take a car from there?
I certainly plan to do this, it will be nice to put to use the excellant Swiss public transport system to good use (if you came from the UK you'd love the transport here as well! it's like another world!)
