The website that files the stories about idiots who were kind enough to remove their genes from the genepool.
From the Mexican farmer who blasted his head off by ricochet while trying to shoot out his aching tooth, to the ex-USAF pilot who equipped his car with a jet engine and crashed 1600 ft above on a cliff and the tourist who jumped over Vevey's Viaduc thinking that the canopy of 40 meter high trees were bushes, you will find, I'm sure, nice stories with easy morals to tell you children before bedtime...

To be honest with you guys and all the victims, I could have claimed a few "honorable mentions" when I was a kid/teenager, but the press had much more interesting things to talk about by this time...

God, haven't Darwin's theories been proved wrong yet? [ see what I did there? Huh? Huh? Oh, nevermind. ]
Seriously, where is creationismawards.com? That deserves equal time on our internets. God wins. Every time. I think it's got legs. Where's bedrock when you need him?

Cool that you mentioned the pilot that strapped the booster to his car. That's actually the only one I remember. At least without reminders. I was telling someone about just last week. It says something like: police discovered a patch of solidified rubber on the road where presumably he had attempted to apply the brakes. That's genius; brakes on a car stopping a missile...

Argh, it's not true!
It's not surprising it's the only one I remember -- it's the most popular Darwin Award of all time. But dammit if it isn't an urban legend. I had believed that for, like, a decade. They're much funnier if the people are actually that insane.
On the other hand, that puts it up there with the urban myth of the guys that went fishing on a frozen lake, parked their car on the ice and threw dynamite sticks to make holes. Dog thinks it's game, shooting ensues, dog gets scared and runs under car, car on bottom of lake, etc. etc.

Oh no! Poop.
This was such a good one. :crying:
About creationistawards, one can explain that the hand of God is behind every of these accidents. God can have fun sometimes. But I guess that killing the guy is like shutting off the TV instead of watching the show till the end...
As an Atheist, I prefer to think that the Priest that tied himself to thousands of helium ballons last week and was reported missing had nothing to do with an intelligent (or not) divine intervention... ;)
Syd.

Is that true? I quite like the idea of a cosmic 'You're Fired'. Makes me feel a little religious.
There was some joke doing the rounds once about why British bishops lived so damn long. The, er, 'punchline' being that the Lord wasn't so keen to have them join him. I guess that's kind of the opposite.

He probably saw a few sparrows up there. European or African? This will remain a mystery.
At least, the Science progressed: we now know that shark don't eat rubber ballons.

African sparrows[1] are non-migratory.
[1] Swallows? Now, a two ounce bird really could not carry a one pound coconut.
