LA's thoughts

Hi y'all,

I'm LA. I co-host two events, one in Zurich (with my Zurich hubbie, Will) and the other in Geneva (with my Geneva gubbie, Jason).

I'd like to post about what I believe glocals is really about and it's actually, for once!, a bit serious from my side. I'm posting this in response to some messages/emails/questions which are well-intended, I'm sure, but I don't want to spend the energy necessary to answer each of them. I'll just refer people to this post.

I, for one, am thankful for glocals. A little over a year ago, I attended an event by two people who would come to be irreplaceable in my life, Will and Pia. From this event, I met countless others who are now a part of my "small family." My own family lives in Texas. It's a bit far if you need to celebrate with a glass of something or cry on a shoulder or figure out a situation. Glocals gave me that.

In return, to pay it forward, I now co-host events. I have seen, in both cities, dozens of people find their best friend, relationship partner, business mentor, a good buddy to drink with, usw. That isn't because of Will or Jason or me. We just gave y'all the event, the time, and the place. Y'all made that happen. More specifically, glocals made that happen.

There is no competition in a place where the goal is "friendly people, fun activities." I don't believe people compete to be friendlier (and I'm from Texas) nor do I believe activities should compete to be "more fun." They simply are friendly and fun. That is, I believe, more than enough.

Bravo to every person who hosts an event. Bravo to every person who attends. And big bravo to the two guys we owe it all to.

Rant over. Statement made. Enjoy your Saturday, I'm off to see the Swiss Alps from a small plane with a friend...I made through glocals. ;)
