Anyone here seen the last episode of LOST, and would like to try and explain just what he thinks happened?
If you're a LOST fan and not interested in spoilers, just turn around and walk away slowly...

i watched the finale last night. the way i see it, they all died in the plane crash (remember 5 seasons ago ) and all these years they've been dead souls wondering through time and space. and in the end, they all meet up at the church for the supposed funeral for jack's father.
kind of a lame story line i think.
at least that's the way i saw it. anyone else see it differently?

I don't think they died.. I think they were in this mysterious place where they learned how to work some personal problems and "let go" of some past issues...
once the bomb exploded (when juliet died) a paralleled word was created were they were already living a "better life" (with what they learned) and needed something to remember...
I love LOST, all seasons but the end was terrible in my opinion... in one minute the world turns pink and everything is magically beautiful... plus kate with Jack???
I liked that they ended with Jack closing the eyes like the pilot, that the new jacob was hurley and even Ben's turn around... but it was a really really really bad finally in my opinion.... I am disappointed a lot!
did you like it?

but if they're all dead, how come Ben is also with them (although that might be why he's waiting outside), how does Richard have anything to do with it, who are the Others, and what happened to the plane that got away at the end with Lapidus, Kate, Sawyer and the rest? the main idea is that you can't escape death, or what?
And how the hell does Jacob and the man in black fit it to the whole story?
Tell me if you think I'm wrong, but the scene where Hurly offers Ben to be his number two, isn't that supposed to be like Jacob giving Richard eternal life so he could be his number 2?

yes, there are plenty of " ifs" as you point out. however, "if" they all died in the plane crash, and their souls were "hanging around" then anything that happened can be explained......in my opinion, a cheap and easy way to end the series without having to try and figure out all the incongruous details. i think :-)
have you read any opinions/reviews? if so, where

Here's how the producers of Lost explain the last episode:
here is an explanation that i found via google:
What if … they all died after the initial plane crash?
We do believe that flight Oceanic 815 crashed and all of the passengers died right away but one. Jack the lone survivor lived for a short time on the Island.
*Sponsored Links*
That brief period corresponds to the time he regained conscious from the river and walked to the bamboo field and collapsed next to the dog.In that sense Jack’s last minutes on the Island that we saw during the finale matched perfectly with the initial ones we viewed in the pilot episode.
The closing credits with the empty plane wreckage gave even more strength to that theory.
The island was just a place where Lost Souls met and those who passed the test were able to regroup at some kind of Universalist church in L.A. and ascend up to heaven or whatever you what to call it.
To add more meat to this position Jack used to see his dead father on the island,Ricardo saw his dead wife,Hurley saw countless dead people so did the Man in Black.
If as conventional wisdom put it, the castaways plotted to meet at the church , how come they did not remember one-another?
In conclusion Lost fans and TV critics try to read between the lines too much.
It was just a show about redemption for some characters who were not fortunate enough to find love and happiness during their life time.
The show became huge even too big for the writers who themselves got Lost along the way.
i guess i'm not alone with this thought :-) glad to know i'm not way out on a limb!

they did not die in the plane crash. they died different deaths. juliet got nailed by the H-bomb (which in fact did not create any kind of alternate reality, that only was a coy by the producers), libby shot, dr artz blown to pieces (hilarious!) and actually lapidus, eyecandy-kate and too-cool-sawyer got away from the island and they had lives afterwards. and eventually they died too. but later.
hurley and ben stayed on the island. they died too but not before giving away the job to somebody else we wont get to know.
at the time of the church scene (though time is kinda relative here) all of them are dead (JackDad: Everyone dies sometime, kiddo. Some of them before you, some long after you (like the ones who got away)), but not from the plane crash, that's what's important. if they died in the crash how could it had been the island adventures an important part of their lives?
the whole idea behind the show was that after the end you get to be together with those who played very important roles in your life. the island and all the dharma sh*t and the others and everything was just an interesting device to drive the plot.
also worth mentioning that this was the first high-concept series that reached a proper end (although not satisfying for everyone).

so out of 108 passengers only the dog (without a scratch) and the guy who got thrown right into the middle of the bamboo forest survived. and of course he had time to change clothes and grow a beard :)
damn he is better than wolverine ;)

Total disapointment...
I knew the writers wouldn't be able to close all the different plots and sub-plots they created, and I assumed I'd be disapointed by the ending, but the final episode was worse than I expected.
This last season (season 6) was my favorite, and I thought they were doing a nice job explaining things but the finale pretty much ruined it for me.

One word - totally LOST after the finale!
I am quite sure not only our viewers, but the writers got lost too...

"Lost" is something where you have to use your own brain and imagination to answer all your questions. Finale was great!

The finale was a bit overdharmatic for my taste...
What a silly thing Lost is ! Glad its over.
They should have done only one more season after the second.
Where Ben and the others go and hunt the plane crash survivors but with alot more action and no silly flashbacks and without any science-fiction, fantasy bullshit. I would have liked to have seen the darkest side of Ben.

Mind to share what you have concluded with your brain and imagination?
To those who think the island was Purgatory, and they were all there at the end because they died in the plane crash: Why was Juliet there? Why was Ben there? Neither of them were on the plane -- so your theory doesn't hold water. They didn't die in the plane-crash, the island was not purgatory. There were survivors of Ocianic 815, and those events on the island really happened. Only the "alternate timeline" (which was later shown to be the Afterlife) didn't happen for real.If you'll remember, after Jack realized he was dead, Christian told him, "there is no 'now' here..." So they can all be dead after having lived their full lives, and "meet up" at the end to all "move on" together -- because time has no meaning there. The "alternate timeline" was just that -- all their afterlives that they experienced, before they met up to move on together -- but there's no telling when the others died, because there is no "now" in the afterlife. They could all have lived decades after Jack died on the island (he died after re-setting the big rock to re-activate the light, not in the plane crash!). We just don't know how long everyone else lived. We do know that they met up in the afterlife to all "move on" together...

btw, what is LOST all about ?
I always thought that LOST was an extended version of "Robinson Crusoe" spread over several seasons of mini-series, but now with all those details, dead souls, fantasy bullshit etc...hm, interesting

I think the same, it looks like they did not had time to explain it all (actually they did because this past season was about nothing) and did the easy way...
it looks like a end of a soap opera..

I get the part about time and that does not matter bla bla... but if Lina theory makes sense why they only realized it now? at the same time?? Jim did not see Juliet showing Sun the baby in the island but he remembered everything in the hospital in this minute? it was so easy... this is one of the cases.. could get Claire and Kate with Aaron, Locke and his leg, but Charlie, Daniel, Jim no...
plus, it all became about Jack! they were waiting for him?? really and this Christian Shepard opening the church door was ridiculous, "Kate" made a Joke herself
there are so many things that does not make sense that I could not write it all... to start where is Walt?? who was so important in the beginning... same for Aron.. even Miss Hawking and Widmore.. she say to Desmond that they are not ready...
I get the connection between the others and Jacob protecting the Island but in the end the Others was nothing... it seems that they had a great idea and used it well during the seasons but did not knew how to close it... so in the end there was no way or time to do it and they did this bad end, where everything is explained in a very easy and fantastic way... and which things that dont fit they dont mention
I do think that the idea was that they learned something in the island, how to let go their problems... they created a strong link etc.. it was what Jacob said: its evolution, they moved forward... but this that they start remembering at the same time and all went to get together was too much for me..
and even if you dont see to the island part and its mysteries... even the love stories dont make sense.. Jack and Kate broke up many years ago, didn't worked out their issues and now they are magically in love.. please! same for Sayid, he is all his life after Nadia, and in the end his love is Shannon? I do not buy it...
for me they just did the easy way......
