You can:
- Watch the news.
- Watch "bref" (it's kinda funny and short).
- Watch movies with subtitles.
- Try to meet and hang around with Frech-speaking people as many times as possible.
- Find some podcasts in French.
- Check the website of BBC and go to "Learning" then "languages".
- Get an easy-to-read short story in French. It could help if it is somthing you have already read.
- Get the free "20 Min" journal every morning (some people do not recommend it due to the quality of the news, but for begginers I think it helps).
- Try writing (letters, emails, etc) in French... that helped me a lot.
- If you're single... maybe get a French speaking boyfriend ;-)

- play with Google Translate/Babelfish/Bing Translate (at your own risk ;)
- get your bf in on it, if he doesn't already speak French

I came on this thread looking for tips as well and found it helpful..I just wanted to add some more about what I've been trying these past months-
- watching French TV with french subtitles
-reading articles on Le Figaro
- reading through French websites
- making vocabulary lists and looking over them whenever I remember to
- trying to think to myself in French even though I revert to English
The hardest part is pronunciation. I read the words the way an American would read them, making me incoherent to French ppl.
If anyone else has more tips, please share!
