Hey John,

2 pieces of advice on life insurance:

1. Instead of a simple life insurance, get a 3rd Pillar saving plus life insurance. It'll cost you less, and you'll save ca CHF 2000 in taxes each year.

2. Speak with Fanny from Allianz Insurance about it (in English). She did 3 glocals seminars for us exactly about this, so she's a real expert on it.

Fanny:

Direct: (+41) 22 906 5427
[email protected]

And last, let's hope you never have to use that insurance! (-:

hi john, sorry for the late reply i hope u are doing well.

Indeed if u want to do a life insurance u should do a third pillar its best. I work in a brokerage company in insurance and we work with the all the insurance companies (including Allianz). You can send me an email to [email protected] and i will be happy to discuss this with u. The main advantages that we have by beeing a brokerage company is that we work with all the companies therefore can compare all the products available on the market and advise which one suits you best depending on your demands and need.

Dear John and others,

I believe that the swiss social and pension system is quite complicated and I would say unique in his way. The best to understand opportunities and fiscality advantage on this matter is a face to face discussion as everyone have a different path.

I am happy to answer any question on that subject, you can contact me on

JA, first check the life insurance coverage that you already have under your LPP (pension scheme).  You will be amazed to find that you have reasonable coverage already. If after that you feel you want a top-up, by all means get a few different opinions as there are various choices, some of which may also be tax deductable. Also check out what happens if you were ever to leave Switzerland (not that anybody would really want to do that ).
