Living/Working in Geneva and France

Hi,

I am new to glocals in terms of using forums and threads (mostly used so far for buying/selling/renting). My question relates to my current living and working situation with my wife, described briefuly here:

I am in Geneva for a job, so I have a B Permit. My wife came over to join me (we are from the US), and she also received a B Permit (through my B Permit). She got a job in France (in Grenoble), but she still lives here in Geneva with me, commuting a few times a week. So she now lives in Geneva with a B Permit, but works in Grenoble. I obviously live and work in Geneva with a B Permit.

My question is regarding my wife's health insurance. She has health insurance through her job in France, and it's obvioulsy much cheaper than in Switzerland. Obviously, she got the typical letter from the Swiss authorities telling her about the insurance requirements. In order to not pay for health insuraance in Switzerland she doesn't need, she has to fill out an S1 form (through her insurance in France) and turn it in to the SAM office in Geneva.

Questions:

1) Is anyone else in this situation? Is this what you had to do as well?

2) What are the implications in France (in terms of permits/visas/residence) of filling out and turning in the S1 form?

Thanks for any input!
