Lodging near Montessori Nations and WHO

Our move to Geneva is finally confirmed! The girls are signed up for the Montessori Nations school, located at Chemin Docteur-Adolphe-Pasteur 13, 1209 Geneva and my husband will be interning at WHO.

We have started looking for apartments and I cant quite make sense of Geneva housing. Where are the quaint old buildings I was dreaming of? The spacious apartments with high ceilings? So far, all I see are rows of 70s apartment compounds that look like what we call a 'project' in Canada - not usually a very positive qualifier.

Can someone lay the land of housing in this area for me? Do I have to resign myself to living in a 70s high-rise building?

I don't want to discourage you but the thruth is, in Geneva you live in the apartement that you will be lucky enough to find - there are many posts on this forum about the housing situation which is more than difficult.

Realistically, you will very likely not be living in your dream house or anywhere near WHO or your kids' school. Better start dreaming about something else... (the lake, the mountains...) :-)

Sure, in the Old Town. I hope you can shell out 10-12,000 a month.

Depends what your budget is. The places you're describing exist, but will set you back over 5-6K / month.
