I have now owned my new VOIP phone for 2 weeks & have still not managed to connect it. It works great as a fixed line phone but that was not the objective!:)

Skype and VoIp are not the same. If you use only Skype, you need a phone that supports Skype. If you have, for example, a siemens gigaset, you cannot use it with Skype, since Skype is not a VoIP application.
I don't really understand about the internet connection and phone ...

well, you have a problem there, since C470 doesn't work with Skype. You must make a VoIp inscription (like justvoip, for me the best and the cheapest). And then, I guess your problems will go away :-)

The file you attached is the file I have been using.
Only point I am stuck on is registering my internet provider on the phone. I need to work out how to get these details off my PC.
There is another option, and that is entering the IP address of the phone into the computer, but that is not working.

I can only tell you that I got a phone for GBP 4.99 from ebay.co.uk and it just plugs into the USB port and gets skype.....
