Looking for a kitten
Hi guys,

I want to buy kitten (with pedigree) and now trying to find some contacts. If you can suggest some websites (grate if it will be in english) or you know people who are selling kittens will really appreciate your help. I was thinking about British Shorthair, Abyssin or Birman...

thanks!

Hi Maria,

I am surprised to hear that you have kittens to give away.

Did you not castrate your cat?

As you saw at SOS Chats cat shelter, a lot of kittens are abandoned every year because the owners do not castrate their cats. They let their cats out to mate, the cats have kittens, and they have no intention to keep them. Thus vicious circle - kittens are abandoned at the shelter, people love kittens because they are cute so they take them home., some true cat lovers would keep them for the rest of the life, some amateurs who just want a furry company as they feel lonely then abandon them as the cats are grown up and not as cute as before, or they have many other reasons, (wife's pregnant, they have to take a 3-week holiday etc).

SOS chats have been running the CNVR ( Capture, neuter, vacinnate and release) programme for many years in order to reduce the number of stray cats. As a responsible cat owner and a member of the society, I strongly believe that it's down to us to act responsibly - you let your cat pregnant with kittens then you should be prepared to keep the kittens, if not, castrate your cats.

I hope you understand what I mean.

I do not agree with you that because a cat gets pregnant that the owners should keep the kittens, this is insane.

Instead it is the owners responsability to find them good homes where they will be taken care of. I agree it is wrong to abandon kittens unless there are very good and valid reasons to do so.

Hi Cindy.

My cat is castrated now. Unfortunately he was a bit sneaky and we had no idea what he did until it was too late :)

I am not saying that the cat owners have to keep all the kittens. But why don't we try to prevent it from happening instead of having to find homes for the kittens? It's the same for human beings: you don't want to have children, you use protection or whatever way you use / do to prevent yourself from having children. You don't give birth to children and then think... oh, it was an accident, too bad I didn't take the necessay precaution, so what shall we do? Let's find them good homes! Well, in our society, this is actually punishable by law... well , if we are talking about human beings.. but of course we are 'suprior' to all other species, so we can decide what to do with them and how to deal with them. Think about the cat mother - oh i can't castrate myself and as my owner didn't take me to the vet for castration, I went out for a stroll and got knocked up, gave birth to 3 beautiful kittens and... the ytook them away from me!!!

Hi! We met at the cat show, didn't we?

If you' d like a kitten drop by the shelter either Tuesday or Saturday between 2.30 and 5.30 pm. I think later around late march, early april we should start receiving a lot of kittens ( as usual... every year is the same....) . If you need more information drop me a line.

Meanwhile, take care!
